EU USB-C Mandate Fuels 8 % Jump in Mobile-Accessory Revenues

Europe’s “common-charger” Directive 2022/2380 kicks in 28 Dec 2024: phones, tablets and cameras must ship with a USB-C port; laptops follow in 2026. Brussels expects to save 11,000 t of e-waste yearly. Market ripple: The Business Research Company sees the global mobile-accessories sector climbing from $252.9 bn (2024) to $273.1 bn in 2025 (+8 %), while FMI projects the USB-C component niche alone at $33.4 bn in 2025, en route to $139.6 bn by 2035. Suppliers of fast-charge hubs, braided 100 W cables and GaN bricks are scrambling to lock in OEM contracts before the holiday rush.

  • Build bundles: 1× 100 W PD cable + 1× GaN 65 W wall-plug + 1× 6-port hub. Cross-sell rates run >40 % in EU markets right now.

  • Highlight PD 3.1 compliance and “no charger in box” readiness—retailers must show that label under the new rules.
